Beware the theologians! Some theologians today are masquerading as Christian theologians, when, in reality, they are theologians of Christianity without a single spark of the love, humility, kindness, or generosity of spirit that makes a man or woman a true Christian. Beware, my friends, of these false Christians who write books on Christian philosophy and theology, but who are truly subverting Christianity from every direction. Beware my friends, these men are agents of the Antichrist! Lawrence has some words appropriate to these subverters of the religion of grace, kindness, love, and charity:

I loathe you. You revolt festering in your [swamp of malevolence...]. You are a loathsome reptile… you are a dirty little worm, and you take the ways of a dirty little worm. But now let me tell you at last that I know it—not that it’s anything new: and let it be plainly understood between you and me, that I consider you a dirty little worm: and so, deposit your dirty bit of venom where you like; at any rate we know what to expect… Curse the blasted, jelly-boned swines, the slimy, the belly-wriggling invertebrates, the miserable sodding rotters, the flaming sods, the sniveling, dribbling, dithering palsied pulse-less lot that make up [the theologians of] today. They've got white of egg in their veins, and their spunk is that watery its a marvel they can breed. They can nothing but frog-spawn — the gibberers! God, how I hate them! God curse them, funkers. God blast them, wish-wash. Exterminate them, slime. I could curse for hours and hours — God help me.

Sometimes when I pray I ask God to help me understand and feel his presence and to take away my intellectualizing of religion. I don't want to have to convince myself of the mystery, I want to be taken over by it from outside of me.

Whoever wrote the paragraph above lacks maturity at best, and is a hypocrite at worst. Hate is not the correct reaction when dealing with those who are lost. It is not our place to condemn them as beyond redemption and take vengeance. Do not act on these feelings or you will fracture your own soul. We are meant to leave things better than we found them, not to destroy our enemies. Separate yourself and make peace that this world is evil, do not be hardened by it.
